Here at My Life Outdoors we cover hunting, fishing, hiking and all things outdoors as they pertain to me and my family. This site allows me to document our adventures and share with others along the way. Live outside and explore. The older I get, the more my love for the outdoors grows. I also created this site to allow my two young boys look back at our times outdoors in years to come. As well as chronicle my chase of harvesting my first big game animal.

I Have The Wild Hogs Arrival Time, But Still No Pictures.

Tim Martinez

I have let the bait sight sit unattended for a week. My Dad was in town, and I am still waiting on the new cover & latch for my Stealth Cam Core game camera. But I couldn't wait any longer. The anticipation of capturing a hog on camera and finally knowing what time they are coming into the bait site was just too much. I woke up early Saturday morning and set out on a hike to set up the camera and bait once again. I was cautiously optimistic seeing as how I have been deceived by these hogs over and over again.

I reached the site at a little after 7:00am. I noticed that the bait I had left over a week ago was gone and it seemed to me that the hogs were still stopping by and checking in, even after the bait had been all eaten. I quickly set out two more buckets of Wild Hog & corn mix, then ventured out, hoping not to be noticed by neither animal nor hunter. I am still doing my best to keep this site a secret, as to keep the local dog and knife hunters as far away as possible.

I headed out Monday morning to retrieve the SD card and set out more bait. Once again, when I reached the site, I noticed that all of the bait was gone. I am feeling pretty good at this point. I know that the hogs have come in and taken the bait. I also know that I had my game camera in working order and pointing right at the bait pile. So now the only question is how good of a picture I got. But somehow, I once again was wrong. The camera only took nine total pictures. Three pictures were from Saturday night at 10:55pm and the other six were from Sunday night between 9:30pm and 9:45pm. The pictures are almost completely dark. I cannot make out a hog in the picture but at least I have a time stamp. That is at least some documentation on when the hogs are making their way into the area.

I repositioned the camera before leaving. I have set it up on a tree that is within five feet of the bait pile. I also positioned it a little lower on the tree. I hope this works in helping to get a better picture of the hogs coming in at night. If it doesn't, it will be time to start looking into another game camera.
